Waterline Designs small portlight insulation helps keep your boat cooler and drier. The silver surface reflects heat from the sun. It also adds an extra layer of insulation to your portlight.

The insulation fits between the portlight and a Waterline Designs blind or bug screen. It is easy to fit and needs no permanent installation.

Small portlight insulation for heat

Portlights with smoke-coloured glass can get very hot on sunny days. The glass can let a lot of heat into the boat.

Our small portlight insulation helps reflect this heat. The silver surface works in much the same way as the silver foam used on a car dashboard.

Place the insulation between the portlight and a blind or bug screen. This adds a layer that helps reduce the heat coming through the portlight.

Helps with moisture

The small portlight insulation can also help with moisture problems.

Moisture can form when there is a big difference between the inside and outside temperature. Modern boat hulls have good insulation. Portlight glass also has good insulation.

The metal parts of a portlight can still create a link between the cold outside and the warmer inside. This can lead to moisture around the portlight.

Adding small portlight insulation creates another layer between the inside and outside. This can help reduce the effect of the temperature difference.

The small portlight insulation is used as an extra layer between the portlight and a Waterline Designs mosquito net or blind.

It fits Blind with Ventilation 1330 and Bug Screen 1430.

Simply place the insulation between the portlight and the blind or bug screen. There is no need for permanent fitting.
